Shackel-Wood, the other half of the dynamic duo for the women’s basketball team with fellow inductee, Sheryl Ferguson, excelled in two sports while attending Oneonta. Besides being a four-year starter for the women’s basketball team she also was a two-year player for the volleyball team.
Shackel’s accomplishments on the basketball court include being selected three times to the All-Conference Team, being a three-year team captain and the program’s second-leading scorer all-time with 1,373 points. She is the all-time leader at Oneonta with 171 three-point baskets made for her career and is fifth all-time in the SUNYAC in three-point field goal percentage.
Shackel received her undergraduate degree in elementary education and has a Master’s degree from Hofstra in secondary education. She currently is a sixth grade mathematics teacher in the Roslyn Public School system.
