Croutier, according to former coach Don Flewelling, was the heart and soul of the basketball team that played for a national championship in 1977. In 1973 he was the ECAC Rookie of the Year and was a four-time All-SUNYAC player. Croutier is still the career assists leader for the Red Dragons basketball program twenty-two years after his graduation.
Croutier, who grew up in Rockville Center, N.Y., received his undergraduate degree in psychology and then attended Rensselaer where he earned his master's in industrial psychology in 1979. While at Rensselaer he served as the women's basketball coach during the 1978-79 season. He is currently the Senior Vice-President at Lehman Brothers where he has worked since 1983.
