    Honorary Inductee
Bassett, who is the ninth Honorary Inductee into the Hall of Fame, played soccer, basketball and baseball during his time as a student in the mid-to-late 50’s.  He earned six letters and was Captain of the soccer team during two of his three seasons with the Red Dragons.  He spent the 1957-58 basketball season as the junior varsity coach for Oneonta.

As a youth, Bassett overcame paralysis in one leg after being diagnosed with polio when he was 15 years old.  He began his coaching career by organizing a group of 10-year olds, as they traveled the Albany area beating all the competition.  He regained enough strength to compete in football, basketball, baseball and tennis during his final two years of High School.

Bassett spent a semester at SUNY Cobleskill before transferring to Oneonta.  While at Cobleskill, he ran cross country and played basketball.

The Troy, N.Y. native has accomplished much during his postgraduate career as a highly successful basketball coach.  He led Catholic Central High School to numerous league and division titles in his 15+ years that included an overall record of 250-70.  He earned multiple Coach of the Year awards and has been inducted into the Catholic Central, SUNY Cobleskill and Capital District Halls of Fame.
