Hall of Fame
Thoma Furman, known to her classmates as “Babs”, has the distinction of being the first volleyball only player to enter the Hall of Fame. She was a four-year standout and led the Red Dragons to prominence with the New York region. During her freshman year she helped the team to a third place finish at the New York State tournament and a berth in the EAIAW Div. III championships.
During her sophomore season the team won the consolation bracket of the State tournament and, in her senior year, she led the team to a fourth place finish overall. Babs was a two-year captain and a two-time team Most Valuable player for teams that compiled an overall record of 78-62 during her four seasons.
Thoma Furman graduated from Oneonta with a degree in general studies before working towards a master's degree in exercise physiology, which she finished at Adelphi University in 1986.
In 1992 she completed a second bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Russell Sage College where she has put her degree to work as a physical therapist working with special needs children at the WSWHE BOCES in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
