Stuhledreher Lewis was a two-sport standout in field hockey and softball during the infancy of women’s athletics at Oneonta.  She was a four-year member of both teams from 1969-1973.

Stuhldreher Lewis’ greatest accomplishments came in the sport of field hockey where she was a two-year Captain and two-time Most Valuable Player.  She led the team in scoring during her sophomore and senior seasons and was the first player in the history of the program to register 20 goals in a season, which she did during her final season.  Her 21 goals as a senior is still the fourth most all-time in a single season and her 42 points is sixth best all-time for a single season.

Stuhldreher Lewis finished her career with 42 goals, which was the program record until the late 1970’s.  She still is tied for seventh all-time with her 42 career goals.

Stuhldreher Lewis earned her undergraduate degree in Education with a concentration in Art in 1973.  She received her Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Reading from Hofstra in 1977.

Stuhldreher Lewis lived in Suffolk County working as a substitute teacher and officiating volleyball and basketball until relocating to Florida in the early 1980’s.  She spent 30 years as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Port St. Lucie until her retirement in 2014.
