Williams has the distinction of being the only athlete in history to win a SUNYAC individual title in two sports – diving and pole vault.

Williams was a standout diver and pole vaulter for the Red Dragons between 1972 and 1974.  He captured his conference pole vault title in 1972 and was second in 1973 and third in 1974.  At the time of his graduation he held the school record at 13’-8”, which stood until 2013.  Williams earned All-New York State honors in both 1973 and 1974.

Williams’ diving championship was earned in 1974 on the 1-meter board where he qualified for the NCAA championships for a second straight year.  In 1974, he also finished third in the 3-meter diving, which was the first year it was competed.

Williams served as a Captain for both the swimming & diving and track & field teams during his senior year which culminated in his selection as the Senior Athlete of the Year.

After his graduation with a degree in Sociology, Williams spent nearly 30 years in the field of technical extrusion Blow Molding with Marpac Industries, Inc.  As part of a group of seven employees who started the company, Williams watched the organization grow to three manufacturing sites in the United States and a facility in Westmeath, Ireland.  He held most positions within the company and was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing when the company was purchased by PVC Container Corporation.  Williams worked for five more years with the company before retiring.
