Heslin made his name as a four-year starter for the baseball team during the years of 1998-2002. During his career he was selected as an All-SUNYAC and All-Region player three times while being an ECAC Upstate New York All-Star twice. His culminating honor came as a senior when he became the first All-American for the baseball program, earning first team honors in 2002.
Heslin finished his career with a .405 batting average that includes a .448 average as a senior. He has a career slugging percentage of .660, hitting 21 home runs, 20 triples and 41 doubles. He stole 62 bases and drove in 113 runs and had a career on-base percentage of .465.
In the summer of 2002, Heslin was part of a SUNY All-Star team that toured Russia.
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education in December of 2001 from Oneonta, Heslin earned a Master’s Degree in literacy education from SUNY Cortland in 2005. He is currently teaching fifth grade for the Susquehanna Valley Central School District, a position he has held since 2002.
