Our job is to oversee student athletes and department staff members, faculty and alumni, ensuring that the athletic department and its student athletes are compliant with all of the SUNY Oneonta, State University of New York Athletic Conference and NCAA  Division III rules. Â
COMPLIANCE MISSION STATEMENT
To ensure that the SUNY Oneonta Athletic program operates in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA, the SUNYAC Conference and the State University of New York, College at Oneonta. The compliance office is committed to educating every member within SUNY Oneonta Athletics of the rules and regulations provided by the NCAA in an effort to prevent even the minor infractions. In the case of a by-law violation, the compliance office will aim to identify, evaluate, and report the violation to the State University of New York Athletic Conference and NCAA.
NCAA PRINCIPLES OF RULES COMPLIANCE
Per the NCAA Constitution, a member institution will comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations. An institution is also responsible for monitoring its athletics program to assure compliance for identifying and reporting all instances in which compliance has not been achieved. Â
SUNY ONEONTA COMPLIANCE POLICY
It is the policy of SUNY Oneonta Athletics to adhere to all applicable NCAA, SUNYAC Conference and College rules and regulations in the conduct of its athletics programs. It is the responsibility and obligation of all Department of Athletics staff members to act within all applicable rules and regulations at all times. All Department of Athletics coaching and administrative staff members are required by NCAA bylaws to sign the NCAA Certification of Compliance annually in good faith.Â
ELIGIBILITY
In order to be eligible for practice and/or competition, student-athletes must be enrolled in at least 12 credits during any semester. If a student-athlete drops below 12 credits, he/she becomes immediately ineligible for practice and/or competition. Students are also required to meet NCAA continuing eligibility standards.
