Ryan Kern was a four-year starter for the field hockey team while also playing two years of lacrosse during her years at Oneonta.  Her greatest accomplishments came on the field hockey field graduating as the second leading scorer all-time with 60 goals and 13 assists for 133 points.  She was a two-time All-State selection and earned an Honorable Mention nod on the 1986 Division III All-America squad.  She was also co-captain of the 1986 squad.
 
During her four seasons, Ryan Kern was instrumental in leading the Red Dragons to an ECAC championship in 1986, four NYSWCAA tournaments with a pair of runner-up finishes in 1985 and 1986 and an NCAA tournament appearance in 1984.  During her tenure, the program amassed an overall record of 56-20-5, which is one of the most successful four-year periods in history.
 
Ryan Kern earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications in 1986 and received a Master of Science in Mass Communications from Boston University in 1989.  She has spent her entire professional career as a corporate communications consultant and media trainer specializing in healthcare communications.
 
Ryan Kern spent time officiating both field hockey and lacrosse while owning a travel lacrosse club.  She spent time as a youth lacrosse coach for her two daughters who both played Division I lacrosse.
