Grastorf began her association with the college in 1968 when she was hired as an assistant professor in the physical education department.  She was promoted to an associate professor in 1977 before being elevated to a full professor in 1995.  She taught physical education for five years in various public schools after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Cortland in 1962.

Grastorf went on to earn her Master’s Degree from the University of Toledo in 1967 before receiving her Doctorate Degree from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in 1980.  She also spent six weeks at the University of Oslo in Norway taking graduate classes as well as participating in a six week institute at the University of Michigan for administrative advancement paid for through a grant from the Ford/Chrysler grant program.

During her tenure as an employee, Grastorf taught classes in the physical education program, was the synchronized swimming coach, the Director of intramurals and recreation, facilities coordinator and the aquatics director.  She was involved in various professional associations and organizations including serving as the President of the National Institute for Creative Aquatics from 1975-1978.

Since her retirement in 1998, Grastorf has continued to be a passionate supporter of the student athletes and the athletics department.  She has been a volunteer for many NCAA events, announced at swimming & diving meets while being available as a mentor to the present coaching staff.
