Chaskin has the distinction of being the first men’s tennis player inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Chaskin was the team’s top player from 1967-70.  He was the No. 1 singles player as a freshman and captured his first SUNYAC title in the spring of 1967.  He would go on to win two more conference singles titles along with adding a doubles championship in 1969.  Chaskin was also a runner-up in the ECAC tournament in the fall of 1969 and was the team’s MVP as a senior.

Chaskin spent 33 years teaching middle school science in the Patchogue-Medford School district.  He also coached modified tennis for 30 years.

Still a competitive tennis player at the time of his induction, Chaskin is currently the No. 2 ranked player by the Eastern Tennis Association 60+ age group as a singles player.  He is also ranked No. 2 in doubles with his son.  Chaskin has competed in numerous age-group national tournaments throughout his life.
