J.D. Roth earns Field Athlete of the Week for 3rd time

State University of New York Athletic Conference Commissioner Azure Davey has announced that SUNY Oneonta sophomore J.D. Roth (Pearl River/Nanuet) has been selected as the men's indoor track & field, Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this winter.

Roth earned the honor after another record-setting performance at the Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca this past Saturday.  This week he bettered his own school record in the 35-lb. weight throw.  He broke the record that he set back in December at the Ithaca quad meet where he also set the events center record in the event at the same time.

Roth's distance of 16.73m (54' 10 ¾”) in the weight throw went three inches farther than his previous mark.  His distance in the weight earned him second place overall, but he was the top collegiate finisher.

He also placed second in the shot put with a distance of 14.48m (47' 6 ¼”).

Roth and his teammates will compete at the St. Valentines Invitational this Saturday at Boston University.
