Red Dragons Wrap up First Day of Bomber Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field team had a solid showing at Saturday's Ithaca Bomber Invitational. The Red Dragons had three top-three finishes on the day.

In the triple jump, junior Isaiah Slater (Brooklyn, NY/John F. Kennedy) took third at 13.23 meters. Junior Tom Pinkowski (Groton, NY/Groton) placed fifth at 12.87 meters, while senior Josh Jerome (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) took sixth at 12.79 meters. Sophomore Gabriel Schoonmaker (/) was seventh at 12.65 meters, and junior Jayden Tsoi (North White Plains, NY/Valhalla High School) placed eighth at 12.62 meters.

Junior Noah Pickard (Batavia, NY/Batavia) ran a personal record of 16:12.37 in the 5,000-meter run to finish tenth overall. Junior Chris Schimkus (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was 14th at 16:37.57.

Junior Kejhaune Lester (Castleton, NY/Columbia) won the prelims and finals of the 60-meter dash. He was 6.91 in the prelims and won at a personal best of 6.87. The mark ties for 26th in NCAA Division III. Lester also finished fourth in the 200-meter at 22.53. Senior Cam Spears (Bronx, NY/Monroe Woodbury) placed sixth at 22.76, and Jerome crossed eighth at 22.94.

Slater earned the victory in the long jump at 6.96 meters. Schoonmaker took seventh at 6.51 meters.

Junior Elijah Cruz (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush Central) set a personal best of 13.47 meters to finish ninth in the shot put. Cruz added a personal best of 15.33 meters in the weight throw to place sixth. Senior Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford)o took tenth at 14.62 meters.

In the 3,000-meter race, fifth-year Gabe Burns (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) ran 8:57.88 for sixth overall.

Oneonta's 4x400 relay of Jacob Prentice (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley), Justin Berkowitz (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow), Spears, and Jamar Matthew (Mt. Vernon, NY/Mount Vernon Stream Academy) ran an AARTFC qualifying time of 3:26.50 for fourth place.

Senior Jackson Sergeant (Pearl River, NY/Clarkstown South) competed in the heptathlon and sits 13th with 2,180 points. The heptathlon finished on Sunday, February 1, at 10 a.m.
