Earl and Sweat to Represent Oneonta at NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Two members of the Oneonta track & field team qualified to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships held at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex from May 21-23. Sophomore Natalia Sweat (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) will run the women's 1,500-meter race, and senior Tariq Earl (Centereach, NY/Centereach) competes in the men's 110-meter hurdles.

Sweat competes in the first round of the 1,500-meter on Thursday, May 21, at 5:35 p.m. (ET). She is seeded 19th overall with a season-best time of 4:29.27, set at the AARTFC Championships last week. Her time is also second-best in Oneonta program history. In addition to being the regional champion, Sweat was the 1,500-meter SUNYAC Champion at 4:32.11. She is in heat two, and the top four finishers from each heat, plus the next four best times from both heats, qualify for the finals on Saturday, May 23, at 2:25 p.m. Sweat is the first Oneonta women's runner in the 1,500 since Rachael Shine in 2016.

Earl runs the 110 hurdles in the first round on Friday, May 22, at 5:25 p.m. (ET). Earl set a program and meet record at the SUNYAC Championships to win the prelims at 14.23. He then claimed the SUNYAC title with a time of 14.43 in the finals. He is seeded 22nd and will run in heat one of three. The top finisher from each heat, along with the next six finishers, will run in the finals on Saturday, May 23, at 3 p.m. Earl is the first 110-hurdles qualifier since Jake Alviene in 2016.
