Oneonta Track & Field Heads to Ocean Breeze Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field team sent a squad to the Ocean Breeze Invitational on Friday in a meet that featured a field of Division I, II, and III competitors. Events were split into "invitational" and "college."

Junior Kejhaune opened the meet by taking tenth in the 60-meter dash at 6.93.

Junior Isaiah Slater (Brooklyn, NY/John F. Kennedy) cleared seven meters in the long jump to earn sixth at 7.01 meters. Senior Josh Jerome (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) hit 6.38 meters for 17th place.

In the 800-meter, freshman Nick Petro (Peru, NY/Peru) took 26th at 1:58.77. The mile event saw junior Noah Pickard (Batavia, NY/Batavia) finish 36th in 4:31.28, while freshman Alex Wheeler was 37th in 4:31.38. Fresman Xander Kunz (Elbridge, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) placed 39th with a time of 4:31.79.

Senior Cam Spears (Bronx, NY/Monroe Woodbury) ran a 50.73 to finish 23rd in the 400-meter race. Junior Lucas Berg (Nyack, NY/Nyack) placed 30th in the 3,000-meter at 9:24.86.

Slater continued by finishing seventh in the triple jump at 13.71 meters. Jerome earned 16th at 13.01 meters.

In the shot put, junior Elijah Cruz (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush Central) placed 13th at 13.61 meters. Senior Eckberg took 25th at 12.52 meters. Cruz went on to throw 14.76 meters for seventh in the weight throw, while Eckberg was 11th at 14.51 meters.

Oneonta next has athletes compete at the Utica Pioneer Invite on Saturday, February 7, at 11 a.m.
