UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field competed at the Utica Blue & Orange Invitational on Saturday. While there was no team scoring, the Red Dragons had solid individual success.
The meet opened with the 3,000-meter, where freshman Tyler Masiello (Pleasantville, NY/Westlake) placed 18th at 9:35.45.
Senior Tariq Earl (Centereach, NY/Centereach) reached the 60-meter hurdle finals after placing seventh in the prelims at 8.64. He then took second in the finals with an AARTFC qualifying mark of 8.39.
In the 400-meter, junior Colin Gerbsch (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) placed third at 53.68. Junior Mark Cappellino was fifth at 54.08, while freshman Chris Cordero (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) ran a 54.13 for sixth place.
Junior Gabriel Schoonmaker (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout Valley) hit 6.23 meters to finish 17th in the long jump, and junior Jayden Tsoi (North White Plains, NY/Valhalla High School) was 19th at 6.17 meters. Tsoi went on to finish fifth in the high jump at 1.72 meters. Â
Oneonta next competes at the Utica Fast Trax Invite on Saturday, February 14.
