ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Following a historic program performance, Oneonta field hockey senior Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) received the Spry SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week honor for the week of September 14-20, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Howell finished the week with 11 points off four goals and three assists to help the Red Dragons go 1-1 on the week and improve to 2-3 this season. 

The Red Dragon captain recorded all 11 points in Oneonta's victory against Elmira. Howell's 11-point performance was the second best single-game performance in the Red Dragons program history, and only trails Karen Graves' 12-point game that happened during the inaugural 1970 season. Howell's second goal of the game against the Eagles was the game-winner.

Howell currently has seven goals, including two game-winners, and four assists for 18 points this season. She has taken 22 shots in the first five games for a .318 shooting percentage with a .682 shot on goal percentage. Through the first few weeks of play, Howell leads the SUNYAC in goals and points, while also leading the team in assists.

Oneonta returns to the field on Wednesday, September 23, to take on Misericordia at 6 pm on All College Field.
