Oneonta Wins Annual Airfield Invitational

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's cross country team won the annual Airfield Invitational on Friday evening at Fortin Park. The Oneonta alums won the meet with 31 points, while the current Red Dragons squad took second with 35 points.

Alumni Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) placed first overall in the 6k race at 19:55.8. Devin Akerley was second at 20:28.9, and Gabe Burns (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) placed third with a 20:44.3.

Junior Chris Schimkus (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was the top Red Dragon at 20:45.8 for fourth overall. Junior Noah Pickard (Batavia, NY/Batavia) placed fifth with a time of 21:23.0, while junior Alex Wheeler ran a 21:42.0 for sixth overall.

Alum John Longo placed seventh at 22:16.7. Freshman Tyler Masiello (Pleasantville, NY/Westlake) crossed ninth at 22:22.6. Sophomore Vincent DiStefano (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West) ran a 22:31.0 for 11th, while sophomore Brady McGowan (Seaford, NY/Seaford) took 12th at 22:41.0. Freshman Aidan Mann () finished 13th (22:44.9), sophomore Jonathan McGwyne-Dantis (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) took 14th (22:48.6), Alex Kunz () earned 15th (22:58.8), and Donovan Lema (Oneonta, NY) was 16th (23:07.9).   

Oneonta next competes at the SUNYAC Preview meet hosted by Plattsburgh on Sept. 13.
