PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's cross country team placed seventh out of 12 teams at Saturday's SUNYAC Championships held at the SUNY Plattsburgh Rugar Woods Cross Country Course. Cortland won the team title for the second year in a row with 60 points, while Oneonta scored 170 points. Fredonia's Stephen Hallberg was the individual champion with an 8k time of 26:06.8.
Freshman Alexander Wheeler () led the Red Dragons with a 25th-place finish at 27:46.1. Junior Noah Pickard (Batavia, NY/Batavia) crossed 37th overall at 28:11.3, while junior Cael Owen (Gillett, PA/Horseheads)s posted a personal best of 28:17.1 to place 41st.
Sophomore Vincent DiStefano (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West) was right behind at 42nd with a personal record of 28:17.4. Freshman Nick Petro (Peru, NY/Peru) ran a personal best of 29:02.4 for 51st overall, and freshman Tyler Masiello (Pleasantville, NY/Westlake) took 57th at 29:09.8. Freshman Xander Kunz (Elbridge, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) crossed 62nd at 29:22.7 as Oneonta's seventh finisher.
Freshman Garry Ryan (Woodside, NY/Archbishop Molloy) took 67th with a personal best of 29:44.8, while junior Jonathan McGwyne-Dantis (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) earned 75th at 30:13.6.
Oneonta next competes at the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships held in Rochester on Saturday, November 15.
