Four Red Dragons Receive Field Hockey All-SUNYAC Honors

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNYAC released their 2024 All-Conference field hockey teams, and the end of the season awards, and the Oneonta field hockey team had four athletes named to the All-SUNYAC teams. Graduate student Erin Clark (Somers, N.Y./Somers) and sophomore Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) received First Team honors while graduate student Michaela Maniscalco (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and sophomore Abigail Draper (Remsen, NY/Holland Patent) earned Second Team status. It is the first time all four Red Dragons received All-Conference recognition.

Howell started all 18 games for the Red Dragons and led the team in goals and points, finishing the season with 13 goals and six assists for 32 points. Overall, in the conference, the sophomore was fifth in goals and points, and was tied for seventh in assists. Howell recorded four game-winning goals this season, including one in a 3-0 victory at Oswego, and had two hat-trick performances against Keuka and Morrisville.

Clark started 16 games she appeared in for Oneonta and finished the season with eight goals and the team-high 10 assists for 26 points. The graduate student was tied for third in the SUNYAC in assists, tied for seventh in points, and was 12th in goals. Clark recorded a point in seven of the final eight games this season, including a game-winner at Hartwick and two five-point outings against Morrisville (1 g, 3 a) and Brockport (2 g, 1 a).

Maniscalco started all 18 games for the Red Dragons as a midfielder and finished the year with three goals and two assists for eight points. The graduate student had one goal in conference play against Morrisville and had a goal and an assist in their win versus Keuka. Defensively, Maniscalco recorded a defensive save in the SUNYAC semifinals against New Paltz.

Draper appeared and started all 18 games for Oneonta as a defender and finished third on the team with four assists for four points this season. The sophomore recorded an assist in four different non-conference games and was tied for 14th in the conference. Draper also recorded a defensive save in their double overtime match against Brockport.

The four All-Conference Red Dragons led Oneonta to a 9-9 finish this year and an appearance in the SUNYAC tournament semifinals.
