COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — The Oneonta field hockey team had seven members selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad, and three named Scholars of Distinction. Those recognized for the National Academic Squad were senior
Gabby Alfinito (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland), juniors
Abigail Draper (Remsen, NY/Holland Patent),
Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East),
Sarah Stadelmann (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa),
Kylie Hoffmann, and sophomores
Marissa Stephan (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and
Nora Trimarchi (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls). Out of the seven Red Dragons, Draper, Stephan, and Trimarchi received Scholars of Distinction honors.
Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester. The Scholars of Distinction honor celebrates student-athletes who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the fall semester and were nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.
"We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes for their dedication—both on the field and in the classroom," said Head Coach
Kelly Kingsbury. "Their athletic drive, academic discipline, and unwavering commitment to Oneonta and the field hockey program represent the very best of what it means to be a Division III student-athlete."
It is the second straight season for Draper, Stephans and Trimarchi to earn Scholar of Distinction, and it is the second consecutive year for all seven Red Dragons to be named to the National Academic Squad. This is the third time Draper has gained Scholars of Distinction status, and it is also the third time for her, Hoffmann, Howell, and Stadelmann to be selected to the Academic Squad.
"They continue to raise the standard through hard work, resilience, and pride in wearing Oneonta's colors," Coach Kingsbury concluded.
The NFHCA recognized more than 1,800 undergraduate student-athletes to the 2025 Division III National Academic Squad with 543 undergraduate student-athletes being named 2025 Division III Scholars of Distinct.
On the field, the Red Dragons finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 9-8 and clinched a spot into the SUNYAC tournament. Oneonta fell to the eventual conference champions, Salisbury, in the semifinals.
