Five More Red Dragons Selected to CSC Academic All-District

Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse Represented in CSC Academic At-Large Teams

ONEONTA, N.Y. - On Tuesday afternoon, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) unveiled their recent honorees of the 2023 Academic All-District® Teams with the Men's and Women's At-Large Teams. This year's honorees in the at-large division were Oneonta field hockey seniors Sophia Little (Northport, N.Y./Northport), Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place), Carly Waszczak (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and women's lacrosse juniors Ana Stiso (Latham, NY/Shaker) and Lauren Mancini (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place).

The 2023 Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and classroom performances. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Little was named to the All-Region III second team and All-SUNYAC first team after her fall performance. She recorded a 3.72 GPA in childhood education and started all 17 games for Oneonta. As a midfielder, Little finished with one goal and three assists for five points and logged 973 minutes, the fourth most on the team.

Waszczak was selected to the All-Region III second team and All-SUNYAC first team after she started 16 games for the Red Dragons this season. Majoring in media studies with a 3.76 GPA, she led the team with seven goals, 14 points, and five defensive saves which was tied for third most in the conference.

Tumino started all 17 games in the cage for the Red Dragons while majoring in childhood education with a 3.85 GPA. She saved 116 shots for an .800 save percentage in 1,049 minutes of play, allowed 1.66 goals a game, and recorded two solo and two combined shut outs. Tumino also played in goal for the women's lacrosse team, started three games and saved four shots. 

Mancini picked up All-SUNYAC third team honors following the season. Mancini posted a 3.66 GPA in adolescent education/social studies and started 16 games for Oneonta. She was second on the team with 61 points and led Oneonta with 48 goals. Mancini added 18 draw controls, 16 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers.

Stiso finished the year with a 3.74 cumulative GPA in childhood education. She appeared in 11 games for the Red Dragons with three starts. Stiso scored two goals with two assists and six groundballs.

Both the Oneonta field hockey and women's lacrosse teams clinched a spot in the SUNYAC playoffs this past season.  

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21 (men) and June 22 (women).
