ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Juniors
Brianna Shaw (Staten Island/Curtis) and
Sophia Schutte (Great Neck/Great Neck) have been named SUNYAC Doubles Team of the Week. Shaw was also awarded the Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week.
Schutte and Shaw helped Oneonta to a 2-0 week with two victories on the No. 2 doubles court. Schutte and Shaw defeated Houghton's No. 2 doubles team 8-3 Friday. The following day, the duo beat Farmingdale's MacKenzie Gisler and Amanda Jones, who were 4-0 entering the match, 8-2.
Shaw also assisted in the 2-0 week with two victories on the No. 4 singles court. In both wins, Shaw did not drop a game. On Friday she defeated her counterpart from Houghton with a double bagel, 6-0, 6-0 before traveling the next day to defeat Farmingdale's Gisler, 6-0, 6-0.
The Red Dragons return to action Wednesday when they travel to face Cortland at 3 pm.Â
