Box Score EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ. -- The Oneonta women's tennis team defeated Yeshiva on the road, 6-1, Sunday evening. The Red Dragons swept the Maccabees in doubles play before they secured five singles matches in straight sets for the win. The victory improved Oneonta to 6-10 this season, while Yeshiva dropped to 5-5 overall.
"It was a good day today for both teams to get back in the win column after playing several matches this spring against nationally ranked opponents," Head Coach
Brian Roser commented. "The women found their first win of the spring, sweeping doubles, and doing so without our number two player in the lineup. Kiersten kept her composure in singles to clutch her match, along with two other freshman [Glaviano and Lyons] securing wins today."
Freshmen duo
Ashley Glaviano (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) and
Trinity Lyons (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) picked up their second win as a team in doubles play with a commanding 6-1 victory over Eliana Tilem and Leebee Benheim on court three. Junior
Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) and sophomore
Taylor Plue (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) earned their first win as a pair in a 6-4 win on court one against Rina Pollock and Jackie Carter. Freshmen tandem

Plue held off Carter in a back-and-forth match on court two as the Red Dragon won straight 7-5 sets and improved to 8-6 in singles play. Rufrano handled Laufer in the first set, then she outlasted the Maccabee opponent in the second set for the match 6-2, 7-5, and her third singles win of her rookie season.
