Women's Volleyball Coach
Ashley Coyle joined the athletic staff in 2017. Coyle is a graduate of SUNY Cortland where she was a four-year volleyball student athlete. At Cortland, she was a standout with such credentials that include being a three-time AVCA All-American, three-time SUNYAC conference champion, 2011 NCAA regional champion, being named first team All-Conference selection three times, two-time SUNYAC East Division Player of the Year, three-time SUNYAC All-Tournament team, and in 2011, was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP as well as the NCAA Regional Most Outstanding Player. Coyle also combined her athletic success with her academics attaining Dean's List honors in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Coyle's impact as player was evident, as she was instrumental in helping her squad to a winning percentage of .838 with a combined record of 140-27, highlighted by a 42-2 season and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2011 where she led the team with 3.29 kills/set, 71 service aces, and 3.31 digs/set.  She finished her career with 1,803 kills (2nd in school history), 1,778 digs (4th in school history), and 614 single season kills during her sophomore season (1st in school history).
Coyle made her impact immediately as the head coach here in Oneonta when she got her squad into the 2017 SUNYAC tournament in her first season. In the classroom, the team earned 2017 AVCA Team Academic honors and eight players received the 2017-2018 SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Coyle speaks about her philosophy this way, "The mission of this program is to develop student-athletes who exemplify the scholar athlete, one who strives for success in the classroom and the competitive arena. My mission is to provide young women opportunities to grow into better leaders when they graduate from SUNY Oneonta; to do well in this world and take away lessons from their experiences of being a part of a well-balanced and successful collegiate volleyball program."
Before joining SUNY Oneonta, Coyle developed her coaching skills with stops at St. Lawrence University where she earned her master's degree in Educational Leadership. While at St. Lawrence, she also served as an assistant compliance officer for the Saints' Division I men's and women's ice hockey programs. Â After two seasons as an Assistant with the Saints, Coyle continued her experience at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut for an additional two years before being tapped to lead the volleyball program her at Oneonta.
Coyle is originally from Orange County, New York and now resides in Oneonta. You can often see her around town with her finance running along with their pet dog.
