Red Dragons Sweep Raptors on Senior Day

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's volleyball team wrapped up the season with a senior day sweep over Bard on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons won 25-20, 26-24, and 25-17 to finish the season with a 16-12 overall record, while the Raptors fell to 4-24.

Oneonta took a 7-2 lead in the first set with senior Mikayla Kendrick (Nassau, NY/Columbia) and junior Emma Morretta (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) blocking an attack. Sophomore Shea Landversicht (Greenville, NY/Greenville) blocked a shot to push the Red Dragons' lead to 10-5. Oneonta used a 3-0 run with kills from Kendrick and senior Colleen McCabe (Rockville Centre, NY/Oceanside) to go ahead 13-8. Bard pulled within two before a 6-1 Oneonta span made it 21-14. Kendrick knocked in a kill to go up 24-19, and a Raptors' attack error gave Oneonta the first set.

Bard found some offense in the second set, and three aces from Annika Flittie made it 7-4. The Raptors held a narrow lead until Oneonta went on a 6-1 run with kills from Kendrick and junior Keira Welsh (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford). Bard regained the lead at 13-12 before a 4-0 Oneonta run with two kills and a block by Landversicht made it 16-13. Bard would tie at 24-24 following a Flittie kill, but final kills by McCabe and Landversicht put Oneonta ahead 2-0.

After falling behind 9-7 in the third, Oneonta rattled off a 5-1 span to go up by two points. Kills from Morretta and Kendrick pushed the Red Dragons up 19-13. Senior Sabrina Squicciarini (Manorville, NY/St. Anthony's) sent in a kill to make it 21-14, and Oneonta closed out on a 3-0 run to complete the sweep.

McCabe and Landversicht led the team with seven kills each, while Welsh finished with six. Morretta recorded four blocks, and senior Anna Moller (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach Senior) had two aces and eight digs. Kendrick had 11 digs, and sophomores Addison Tanton (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Hailey Herrea each had 12 assists.

Becca Wintjen led Bard with ten kills and one block. Flittie made four aces with 14 digs.
