Women's lacrosse cruises past Buffalo State 20-10

Box Score The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team got five goals each from junior Kiera McNally (East Northport/Northport) and sophomore Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills), as they cruised past visiting Buffalo State today 20-10 in SUNYAC action.  McNally also added a pair of assists to lead the Red Dragons with seven points.
 
Junior Nikki Fioretti (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) gave Oneonta (7-4/2-1 SUNYAC) a 1-0 lead in the third minute off an assist from McNally.  Buffalo State (7-3/2-1 SUNYAC) countered with a pair of goals by Kendra Thomas and Meghan Farrell to grab its only lead of the contest.
 
Junior Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa) then scored back-to-back goals and Fioretti notched her second goal to give Oneonta a 5-2 lead in the 13th minute.
 
Farrell scored her third goal of the half to cut Oneonta's lead to 8-5 with just over eight minutes remaining in the opening half.  The Red Dragons then seized control of the game, as they closed the half with four unanswered goals to take a commanding 12-5 lead at the break.
 
A goal by junior Michelle Genovese (West Islip/West Islip) in the 44th minute gave Oneonta its first 10-goal lead of the game.
 
Buffalo State actually cut the lead back to 16-10 after four straight goals, but could get no closer, as Oneonta clamped down defensively and tallied the game's final four goals for the final margin of victory.
 
Oneonta senior Chelsea Collins (St. James/Smithtown East) collected four assists and one goal while junior Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa) scored four goals and added one assist for five points each.
 
Sophomore goalie, Amanda Reichardt (Kings Park/Kings Park), made four saves and senior, Laura Grose (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown), made six saves, as the two split time for Oneonta today.  Reichardt picked up her seventh win of the season.
 
Junior Colleen George started in goal for the Bengals and took the loss, as she made only four saves while allowing 12 goals in one half of play.
 
Oneonta will be at SUNY Potsdam this Tuesday for a road SUNYAC game beginning at 4pm.
