Box Score The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team defeated Oswego State this afternoon, 13-7, to clinch a playoff spot in the SUNYAC tournament, which begins Tuesday at home for Oneonta. The Red Dragons earned the No. 4 seed and will host Brockport beginning at 4pm with a trip to the semifinals on the line.
Admission to Tuesday's game is $6 for adults, $3 for children 5-12, free for children under five and college students with their ID.
Oneonta (11-6/5-3 SUNYAC) outshot Oswego (11-6/3-5 SUNYAC), 32-18, while controlling 16-of-22 draws. Senior
Casey Sarle (West Islip/West Islip) collected eight draws to put her at 201 draw controls for her career, which makes her only the second player to eclipse the mark.
The Red Dragons jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Sarle and junior
Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa), both coming on free position shots.
After and unassisted goal by Mackenzie Kjerstad, Sarle scored her second goal with an assist from classmate
Chelsea Collins (St. James/Smithtown East) to give Oneonta 3-1 lead.
After a goal by Emily Lange cut the lead to 3-2, Oneonta called a timeout and, after that, ran off four straight goals to take a commanding 7-2 lead. Four different players scored for the Red Dragons including Boylan's second of the game.
Oneonta took a 9-4 lead into halftime, as both teams collected a pair of goals each over the final 10 minutes.
Back-to-back goals by Collins and senior
Stefanie Rodriguez (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) put the game out of reach at 12-5 with under nine minutes to go in the game.
Sophomore
Amanda Reichardt (Kings Park/Kings Park) played the first half in goal for Oneonta and made one save while senior
Laura Grose (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) closed out the game with a seven save second half.
Junior
Kiera McNally (East Northport/Northport) led Oneonta with three goals. Boylan, Sarle and junior
Nikki Fioretti (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) each finished with a pair of goals.
