Women's lacrosse upends Buffalo State 13-10

Senior Caroline Tulley eclipses 200 career points

Box Score The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team picked up its first road victory of the season today against Buffalo State 13-10.  The win for Oneonta was its first conference victory (6-5/1-2 SUNYAC) while also snapping a mini three-game skid.

The highlight in the game was senior Caroline Tulley (Malverne/Sacred Heart Academy) registering her 200th career point to become only the fourth player in program history to eclipse the milestone.  Tulley currently leads the team with 59 points, which brings her current career total to 201 points.

Sophomore Nikki Fioretti (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) got things started today for the Red Dragons with a goal just 1:30 into the contest.

The two teams traded goals and were tied at three apiece before Buffalo State scored three unanswered and five of the next six goals to take an 8-4 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the opening half.

Tulley and junior Chelsea Collins (St. James/Smithtown East) each scored a goal to cut the Bengal lead to 8-6 going into halftime.  Collins' goal came with just seven seconds to go in the half.  Collins would finish the game with a pair of goals and a team high three assists.

In the second half, the Oneonta defense stiffened and sophomore Jillian Donodeo (Holbrook/Sachem East) took over offensively.  Donodeo led the Red Dragons with six goals in the game including five in the second half.  She scored the eventual game-winner in the 20th minute of the second half, which gave Oneonta an 11-9 lead.

Oneonta will begin a five-game home stand this Tuesday when they host SUNY Potsdam beginning at 4pm.
