Cross Country teams finish 3rd at SUNYAC championships

Men's Full Results \ Women's Full Results

The SUNY Oneonta cross country teams competed today at the SUNYAC Championship meet hosted by Fredonia at Lake Erie State Park and came away with third place finishes on both sides.  The men scored 111 points while the women scored 85 points.

For the women, it was the best finish at the conference championship all time.  The last two years they were fourth overall.  They finished one point behind second place Plattsburgh.  SUNY Geneseo was the overall winner with 45 points.

Leading Oneonta today on the women's side was junior Danielle Kennedy, who was the third place runner overall.  This was her second consecutive top-5 finish at the championships, as last year she came in fifth place.  Her finish last year earned her induction into the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Hall of Fame.  This year's finish earns Kennedy First Team All-SUNYAC honors for a second straight year.

Rounding out the top-7 runners for Oneonta today was junior Allison Ryley, sophomores Brianna McLoughlin, Caitlyn Kuzmich, Marielle Genovesi and Mariel Doyle along with freshman Ceili McMorrow.  McLoughlin was just outside the top-15 in 17th place while Kuzmich was close in 19th place.  Genovesi finished 22nd, Ryley was 24th, McMorrow was 34th and Doyle was 39th.

Today's third place finish for the men equaled its best finish ever at the championships.  In 2007, the men were third overall.  The SUNY Geneseo men won the race while SUNY Cortland was second.

Senior John Longo led the men with an 11th place finish overall.  His finish earned him All-Conference Second Team honors.

The top-7 finishers for the men today were senior Chris Harvey in 21st, freshman Jim Bernstein in 22nd, sophomore Andrew Bohunicky in 27th, junior Tome Haskins in 30th, junior Mitchell Todorov in 34th, and freshman Michael Delligatti in 35th.

The cross-country teams will be off for two weeks before competing in the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships at Rochester on Saturday, Nov. 10.
