PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - In the first 8k of the season, the Oneonta men's cross country team placed second out of six teams with 55 points. Cortland won the meet with 23 points.
Cortland's Brandon Mulholland won the meet with a time of 26:51.2. Junior Chris Schimkus (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was the top Red Dragon at sixth overall at 28:01.7. Junior Noah Pickard (Batavia, NY/Batavia) ran a 28:02.4 to cross seventh overall. Cortland broke up the Oneonta pack, and sophomore Brady McGowan (Seaford, NY/Seaford) took 19th at 29:29.4. Sophomore Vincent DiStefano (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West) placed 20th (29:35.6), while freshman Tyler Masiello (Pleasantville, NY/Westlake) grabbed 21st (29:41.0).
Sophomore Jonathan McGwyne-Dantis (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) earned 24th with a 29:47.5, and freshman Donovan Lema (Oneonta, NY) placed 26th at 29:55.4.
Oneonta next competes at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Sat. Sept. 20.
