ONEONTA, N.Y.—Seven different players scored today, but the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team fell in its home opener to Scranton 15-7. The loss for the Red Dragons drops them to 0-6 overall while the Royals move to 3-2 overall.

Oneonta scored the first and last goal of the first half, but Scranton tallied nine goals in between to carry a 9-2 lead into halftime. Oneonta's opening goal came from junior Heidi Kissinger (East Islip, East Islip) 3:36 into the contest on a free position shot. The final goal of the half was by sophomore Andrea Spano (Mt. Sinai, Mt. Sinai) unassisted with six seconds remaining in the opening 30 minutes.

Senior Katie Slade, who finished with a team high four goals, notched three scores in the first half. Sophomore Jiliana DePaolera added a pair of goals for the Royals in the first half.

Scranton scored the first three goals of the second half before Oneonta stopped the run with back-to-back goals. Sophomores Sarah Stark (Huntington, Harborfields) and Caroline Tulley (Malverne, Sacred Heart Academy) scored less than two minutes apart for the Red Dragons.

The two teams then traded goals for the remainder of the contest for the 15-7 final. Sophomore Deanna Giorno led the Royals with five points on two goals and three assists.

Sophomore Kathleen Smart made five saves in goal for the visitors while junior Annelise Muscietta (Lindenhurst, Walter O'Connell Copiague) and freshman Laura Grose (Yorktown Heights, Yorktown) each made six stops in goal for Oneonta.

Oneonta will be in action again next Friday evening, Mar. 25, when they hosts Vassar for a game that begins at 6:00 p.m.
