On Saturday March 27th 2010, the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team will travel down to Long Island, NY to play Farmingdale State at 3:00 p.m. Their game will not only be exciting, but this game will also be an opportunity to give back through community service. The game will be a chance to promote autism research and awareness in conjunction with the Lacrosse for Autism Campaign.
Brendan and Jenn Fleming created lacrosse for Autism in January 2007 with the genuine support of Lacrosse Unlimited Inc. Their son was diagnosed at twenty-two months with PDD NOS (pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified) on the Autism spectrum. His development relies continuously on the support and love of his teachers and therapists. Brendan and Jenn created Lacrosse for Autism events to celebrate and show appreciation to all the teachers and therapists of children with autism and bring autism awareness to the lacrosse community.
Saturday's lacrosse game is a chance to raise money and awareness for autism and developmental disabilities. The foundation will give funds to local schools and run programs that encourage inclusion. There will be raffles during the game and a chance for you to buy Lacrosse for Autism merchandise. There will also be a donation table at the entrance to help support and encourage autism research.
Please come out and support your Oneonta women's lacrosse team on Long Island, as well as autism research!
