BUFFALO, N.Y. - Senior James Llewellyn (Great River, NY/East Islip) took the bronze medal in the 200-yard IM to highlight the second day of the SUNYAC-AMCC Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday evening. The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team currently is fourth out of ten teams with 161 points, while Cortland is in first with 334.
Llewellyn swam a 1:54.65 in the 200-yard IM prelims and then bested his time for a school record time of 1:53.93 in the finals to touch third overall.
In the 50-yard freestyle, junior Delroy Tyrrell (Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago) took fourth at 21.44, while junior Calvin Hitzschke (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy & Central School) placed 11th at 21.77.
The Oneonta 200-yard medley relay took fourth overall. Tyrrell, Hitzschke, Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), and Cosmo Martinelli (Albany, NY/Albany) swam a 1:26.36.
In the 1-meter dive, freshman Ben Heyman (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) scored 222.35 points to place eighth.
