BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team won bronze in the 200-yard freestyle relay to highlight the second day of the SUNYAC Championships on Thursday. After two days, Oneonta is fifth out of 11 teams with 156 points. Penn State Behrend is first with 321 points.
Oneonta's 200 freestyle relay of Delroy Tyrrell (Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago/), Nick Rhodes (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), Calvin Hitzschke (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy & Central School), and Cosmo Martinelli (Albany, NY/Albany) placed third at 1:25.40 to grab all-conference honors.
Senior Brendan Heaney (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks Central) reached the 200-yard IM finals and placed 16th with a time of 2:04.99. In the 50-yard freestyle finals, Martinelli took seventh at 21.79, while Hitzschke finished eighth at 21.89.
Oneonta continues the third day of the SUNYAC Championships on Friday, February 20 at 10 a.m.
