ONEONTA, N.Y. - Eight members of the Oneonta men's and women's swimming and diving teams received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and classroom.
The Red Dragons earning the honor for the women's team are sophomores Destiny Duckworth (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and Kaidyn Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), as well as seniors Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) and Maddy Boyar (Mahopac, NY/John F. Kennedy Prep). On the men's team, sophomores Bastian Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and Mark Varga (Westchester, NY), junior Gavin Weseman (Olean, NY/Olean), and senior Brendan Heaney (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks Central) received the honor.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. Each school is limited to four nominations. Eligible individuals must compete in five competitions or finish in the top eight at a conference meet.
Duckworth currently has a GPA of 3.77 and is studying early childhood education. Some of Duckworth's personal best times of the 2025-26 season included a 42.13 during the 50 Butterfly event at the Electric City Invitational, and a 1:28.69 for the 100 Butterfly event at the SUNYAC Championships.
Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) is studying early childhood education and holds a 3.65 GPA. Thompson recorded a time of 2:40.12 during the 200 Backstroke at the SUNYAC Championships.
Kaidyn Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) is studying professional accounting with a 3.80 GPA. Thompson's personal best event time this season was a 31.46 50 Freestyle at the Snowflurries Invitational. Thompson also recorded a time of 2:50.50 in the 200 Breaststroke at the SUNYAC Championships.
Boyar is studying Psychology and holds a GPA of 3.65. Boyar received a time of 290.65 for diving at the SUNYAC Championships.
Dudley is currently studying media studies and has a 3.71 GPA. At the SUNYAC Championships, Dudley finished with a time of 29.52 for the 50 Breaststroke.
Varga is studying Earth Science and is currently holding a 3.85 GPA. Varga had 11 dives at the SUNYAC Championships with a best time of 232.35.
Weseman is an Adolescence Education major with an Earth Science minor. Weseman finished with a time of 24.98 50 Breaststroke at the SUNYAC Championships and a time of 51.98 for the 100 Freestyle.
Heaney has a 3.77 GPA and is studying Dietetics. At the SUNYAC Championships, Heaney recorded a time of 23.26 for the 50 Freestyle, a time of 50.03 for the 100 freestyle, and a time of 29.07 for the 50 Breaststroke.
Oneonta finished the season at the SUNYAC Championships. The women placed fourth, while the men placed fifth.
