ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta field hockey senior
Maura Leib (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) earned the SUNYAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week honor for the week of October 27-November 2, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Leib finished the week with 30 saves for an .882 save percentage and helped Oneonta go 1-1 in a pair of non-conference matches for her first conference weekly award this year.
Leib, who has been impressive all season, started the week with 17 saves for an .895 save percentage against Ithaca. The senior keeper then totaled 13 saves for an .867 save percentage in the Red Dragons 3-2 Senior Day victory over RPI. Leib finished the regular season ranked first in the SUNYAC with an .854 save percentage, which is eighth in Division III, and second in the conference with 152 saves.
The Red Dragons (9-7, 2-3 SUNYAC) head to New Paltz on Friday, November 7, for their SUNYAC semifinal match against Salisbury (15-2, 5-0 SUNYAC) at 11 am.
