Red Dragons Finish Third at Ithaca Quad Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field took third at Saturday's Ithaca Quad meet, scoring 21 points. TCNJ won the meet with 74 points.

Sophomore Tariq Earl (Centereach, NY/Centereach) placed second in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with an AARTFC qualifying time of 8.43. He placed fifth in the finals at 8.72. Three Red Dragons reached the 60-meter dash finals. Freshman Alex Darrigo (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) was sixth in the prelims at 7.22, freshman Masen Valachovic (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) was seventh at 7.31, and junior Joshua Jerome grabbed eighth at 7.32. The trip went 6-7-8 in the finals at 7.20, 7.33, and 7.40, respectively.

Fifth-year Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) ran a 4:28.89 to finish third in the mile. In the 400-meter, freshman Justin Berkowitz (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) took fourth at 53.17. Junior Cameron Spears crossed seventh in the 200-meter with a 23.01.

In the 3,000-meter, senior Gabe Burns (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) crossed third at 8:57.91, while sophomore Noah Pickard (Batavia, NY/Batavia) was seventh at 9:45.73.

Oneonta's 4x400 relay of Valachovic, Thomas Stasichin (Massapequa, NY/Mas), Colin Bresnihan (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa), and Spears placed third at 3:30.45.

Junior Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford) took third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.26 meters. Senior Marco Alteri placed sixth at 14.06 meters.

Freshman Ayobami Adebayo (Long Island, NY/Longwood) cleared 1.89 meters to place second in the high jump, while sophomore Jayden Tsoi (North White Plains, NY/Valhalla High School) was fifth at 1.79 meters. Adebayo placed third in the long jump at 6.70 meters. Jerome won at 13.54 meters in the triple jump, and sophomore Thomas Pinkowski took second at 13.05 meters. Sophomore Isaiah Slater (Brooklyn, NY/John F. Kennedy) was fourth at 12.93 meters, while Adebayo placed fifth at 12.68 meters.

Oneonta next competes at the Houghton Highlander Invitational on Sat. Jan. 25.
