Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Red Dragons Down Giants, 3-0

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's volleyball team swept Keystone 3-0 to move to 5-3 overall on the season. The Giants fall to 5-2 with the loss.

Oneonta took a 6-4 lead following back-to-back kills from sophomore Kiera Welsh. An ace from freshman Abigail Harper (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and an Abby Stevens (Otisville, NY/Minisink Valley, Slate Hill) kill pushed the Red Dragons' lead to five points. Keystone pulled within one following an ace from Tobi West, but Oneonta used a 4-0 run capped off with a kill from junior Katie Spano (Dryden, NY/Dryden) to go up 15-10. The Red Dragons continued with a 7-0 span with blocks from Sabrina Squicciarini (Manorville, NY/St. Anthony's) and Spano to push ahead 23-14. Spano sent a kill in to get to set point, and Squicciarini hit the final kill.

The Giants took an 8-4 lead after Sofia Green knocked in a pair of kills. Oneonta responded with an 8-0, with sophomore Emma Morretta (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) sending in two aces to bring the Red Dragons up 13-9. Keystone pulled within one before a Welsh kill, and two Mikayla Kendrick (Nassau, NY/Columbia High School/East Greenbush) aces put Oneonta up by five points. Keystone fought back to make it 21-20 but kills from freshman McKenna Law (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake), and Morretta put the score 24-20. A Giants' service error put Oneonta ahead 2-0 in sets.

Keystone used a 6-0 run in the third set to take a 19-14 lead. Oneonta used a 4-0 span with freshman Zoe Moller (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) hitting an ace to cut the lead to one point. The Red Dragons retook the lead following a Welsh kill. Keystone managed to tie 25-25, but two straight kills from Spano gave Oneonta the sweep.

Spano finished with nine kills and five total blocks, while Welsh had nine kills and 11 digs. Squicciarini added five kills and two blocks. Kendrick had three aces and 12 digs, and Moller had an ace and 16 digs. Stevens tallied 20 assists.

Green led Keystone with 11 kills, while Genevieve Pollock added six. Catie Woolf grabbed 13 digs.
