ONEONTA, N.Y. - Three SUNY Oneonta student-athletes have earned spots on the 2024 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances academically and athletically.
The Red Dragons receiving the honor are 2024 graduates Marissa Evans (Jamesville, NY/LaFayette) (lacrosse), Carly O'Connor (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) (field hockey), and rising senior Cassidy Moore (Hampton Bays, NY/Hampton Bays) (lacrosse).
To be nominated, student-athletes must contribute significantly to the team with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. For field hockey and lacrosse players, nominees must have competed in 90 percent of the team's total games or have started 66 percent of the team's total games.
A psychology major, Evans graduated with a 3.67 cumulative GPA. She was an All-SUNYAC Second Team selection at the midfield position in 2024. Evans was second on the team with 55 points and 17 assists and was third with 38 goals. Evans was second on the team with 55 draw controls and was first in 43 ground balls, with 21 causing turnovers. She is a Chi Alpha Sigma National Honors Society recipient and part of the SUNYAC Commisioner's Academic Honor Roll.
O'Connor appeared in all 18 games and made 17 starts this past season. She was second on the team with seven goals and added two assists for 16 total points. She is a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholar of Distinction honoree and a part of the NFCA Academic Squad. O'Connor graduated with a 3.97 GPA in early child/childhood education (B-6).
An All-SUNYAC Third Team selection in 2024, Moore finished the year with a 3.63 cumulative GPA in communications studies. Moore led Oneonta with 65 points, 44 goals, and 21 assists. Her 76 draw controls were the most on the team and tied for third in the SUNYAC. Moore scored a career-high eight goals against Plattsburgh and recorded ten multi-goal games. Moore also was a Chi Alpha Sigma recipient this past year.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes Women's At-Large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
