WILLIAMSVILLE, MA - The Oneonta men's track & field team sent a small squad to compete at the Williams College Farley Inter Regional Meet on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday evening, senior John Balk, Jr. (Suffern, NY/Suffern) ran the 5,000-meter race and placed 36th at 15:24.02.
On Saturday, senior Chris Ganley (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) placed 18th in the 100-meter, while senior Eric Nieves (Thornwood, NY/Westlake) was 19th at 11.35. Junior Josh Jerome (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) ran a personal best of 22.75 to finish 21st in the 200-meter dash, and sophomore Nick Darrigo (Albany, NY/Guilderland) was 25th at 23.33.
Senior Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) took 33rd in the 1,500-meter at 4:10.14.
The 4x100 relay of Nieves, Jerome, Darrigo, and Ganley ran an AARTFC qualifying time of 42.68 for fifth overall.
Sophomore Joseph Ciardi (Accord, NY/) took 12th in the long jump (6.00 meters).
In the discus, sophomore Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford) threw 35.74 meters to earn 13th place. Junior Marco Alteri was 12th in the hammer throw (46.17 meters), while Eckberg was 13th (45.92 meters). Senior Clifford Biehl (Babylon, NY/Babylon) finished fifth in the javelin at 50.84 meters. Sophomore Drew Obernesser (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) took 10th at 45.21 meters.
Oneonta next competes at the AARTFC Championships held at SUNY Cortland on Wed. May 15.
