LEWISBURG, PA -Â The Oneonta men's track & field team concluded action at the highly competitive Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic over the weekend. The meet included Division I, II, and III teams.
In the track events, senior Chris Ganley (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) placed 63rd in the 100-meter dash (11.12), while senior Eric Nieves (Thornwood, NY/Westlake) took 93rd (11.32). Sophomore Josh Jerome (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) was 109th with an 11.49. Ganley led Oneonta with an 83rd-place finish in the 200-meter race at 23.03. Jerome was 92nd at 23.28.Â
Senior Alec Weiss (Selden, NY/Newfield) ran a 52.28 in the 400-meter race to place 95th overall. Junior Gabe Burns (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) posted a 1:58.46 to take 135th in the 800-meter race. He went on to finish 23rd in the 1,500-meter (4:01.50). Â
Senior John Balk, Jr. (Suffern, NY/Suffern) ran a 32:20.98 in the 10,000-meter to finish 36th and qualify for the AARTFC regional meet. Senior Alex Mavros (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) took 27th in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.75 and was 42nd in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:00.11.Â
Freshman Chris Schimkus (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) ran a personal best of 9:49.88 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to cross 49th. Senior Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) was 58th at 10:01.58.Â
Senior Cliff Biehl hit 6.14 meters in the long jump to finish 36th.Â
Senior Vincent Zheng (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) earned 21st in the shot put at 14.26 meters and was 35th in the discus at 39.48 meters. Junior Marco Alteri grabbed a personal best of 48.99 meters in the hammer throw to finish 23rd overall. Biehl had a personal record of 55.79 meters in the javelin to finish ninth overall.
Senior Aidan Kelly (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) had a personal best of 5,522 points in the decathlon to finish tenth overall. Kelly had personal bests in the discus (31.67 meters) and javelin (43.25 meters).Â
Oneonta next competes at the Cortland Classic on Fri. Apr. 19 at 2 p.m.
