SUNY Delhi is shutout by Men's Tennis 9-0

Now back at .500 on the year

Oneonta, NY - The SUNY Oneonta Men's Tennis Team hosted their first home match of the spring as neighbors SUNY Delhi came to open the Heissan Courts on the campus of SUNY Oneonta.  A very strong showing by the Red Dragons today resulted in a clean sweep of all contested courts 9-0.

At first doubles the team of freshman Noah Khair (New Delhi, INDIA/National Institute of Open Schooling) and junior Mason Spottek (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) were dominant in doubling up their opponents 8-4.  The second doubles team were also superior with attacking net play on route to their 8-2 triumph as juniors Jacob Dornsife (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) and August Lepique came off the court as winners.  The third duo of junior 
Cole Kirschbaum (Bronx/Community High (NJ)) and sophomore Joshua Mann (East Greenbush/Columbia) were perfect as they tallied an 8-0 win.

A 3-0 lead in tow was insurmountable for the Broncos as the Oneonta men won handily on all six-courts contested in singles.  Dornsife got revenge from a match he played against his opponent last year when he lost today played superior tennis going on to a 6-2, 6-2 win.  Lepique, Spottek, Khair and Mann all went onto win in straight sets at the 2-5 positions losing only three-games amongst them.  At six singles sophomore Yonathan Glattman (Hewlett/Hewlett) also won in straight sets handily with a double bagel of his own 6-0, 6-0.

The SUNY Oneonta men are back in action on Sunday, April 10th as they take on Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, PA  beginning at noon.  The Red Dragons will look to get above .500 for the first time this season after beginning the year 0-3.
