ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta tennis head coach
Brian Roser is happy to announce the hiring of
William Schmid '26 as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Schmid joins the Red Dragons coaching staff after a four-year playing career at Oneonta.
"We are thrilled to welcome Will to our coaching staff," said Coach Roser. "His outstanding four-year playing career at Oneonta, including three years as team captain, makes him a phenomenal asset to our staff."
Schmid was a four-year starter for the team and totaled 83 victories on the court, tied for 10th most in program history. He recorded 44 wins in doubles play, which is the fifth most in Red Dragon history, and he was named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) All-Conference team for singles and doubles in his last two seasons of competition.
"His leadership and game IQ give us exactly the edge we need to keep competing for championships," Roser concluded.
Schmid graduated from Oneonta with a bachelor's degree in sport management. Oneonta's women's tennis team officially begin their season on Tuesday, September 1, against Hartwick in the Battle of the Hills starting at 3:30 pm.
