A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team was defeated by Geneseo 21-9, Saturday afternoon. Senior
Rachel Morris (East Greenbush/Columbia) and junior
Megan Foiles (Pearl River/Pearl River) each surpassed the 40-goal mark on the season during the contest. The Red Dragons are now 7-7 overall and 5-3 in the SUNYAC, while the Knights improved to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference.
The Inside Story
Morris and Foiles traded a couple goals with Geneseo through the first five minutes of play. The Knights then began to pull away, outscoring the Red Dragons 7-2 for the remaining quarter. Madelynn Brown and Hannah Marafioti each scored twice during the stretch, with Foiles and senior
Tessa Hughes (Delmar/Bethlehem Central) scoring for the Red Dragons.
Geneseo tacked on another five and kept Oneonta scoreless in the second quarter. Marafioti netted two of the goals as the Knights went into halftime up 14-4.
Hughes was the first to score in the second half, however Geneseo did not slow down and ended the third quarter with a 19-6 lead. Five different Knights scored in the third, and freshman
Cassidy Moore (Hampton Bays/Hampton Bays) tallied one for the Red Dragons.
Sophomore
Lauren Mancini (Miller Place/Miller Place) and Foiles put up the first three goals in the fourth, though the damage was done. Geneseo's Megan Cook and Brown scored one more before the contest ended.
Just the Stats
Foiles ended the day with three goals and an assist. Hughes and Mancini each scored twice, and Moore and Morris finished with a goal and assist.

The Red Dragons wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Brockport at 1 pm.
