The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team was defeated by Hamilton College 15-6 on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Dragons move to 1-3 on the season.
The Inside Story
The Continentals' Lauren Hamilton sparked an early scoring surge with an unassisted goal and a free position goal two minutes into the contest. Hamilton helped extend Hamilton's lead to three with an assist to Olivia Seymour with 11:48 in the first. The Red Dragons got on the board immediately following Seymour's goal. Senior
Rachel Morris (East Greenbush/Columbia) received draw control, sprinted straight down into the attack zone and drew a foul against the Continentals; Morris scored on the free position attempt. Hamilton's Eva Abel scored two goals to close the first for a 5-1 lead.
The Continentals tallied six goals from six different players in the second quarter, while keeping the Red Dragons scoreless. Seymour scored her second of the game during the run and Hamilton recorded her hat trick, as they entered halftime up 11-1. Â
Hamilton tacked on three more goals in the third, increasing their lead 14-1.
The Red Dragons did not quit as they outscored the Continentals 4-2 in the fourth. Morris recorded her second goal of the game after splitting a few Continental defenders in the attack zone. She earned her hat trick later in the quarter off a free position shot. Junior
Megan Foiles (Pearl River/Pearl River) followed suit with a free position goal, with 6:30 left. Foiles scored the final goal of the contest when she received the ball at center field and outran a couple defenders to beat the goalie right side with eight seconds remaining. Â
Just the Stats
Morris finished with three goals on the day, while Foiles scored two. Sophomore
Courtney Gallagher (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson) recorded 13 saves in the contest. Â
The Continentals held a 15-8 draw control advantage over the Red Dragons and were 14-18 on clear attempts, compared to Oneonta's 13-19. Â

The Red Dragons will host their home opener against Rochester on Monday at 3 pm.Â
