The Inside Story
The Engineers jumped out to a 5-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. The Red Dragons ended the quarter scoring three goals, closing the deficit 5-3. Sophomore
Margaret Byrne (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) scored the first Red Dragon goal of the season on a man-up opportunity, while Morris netted the next two off free position shots.
Rensselaer's Ella Graff scored the first goal of the second quarter with 10:36 remaining. Junior
Megan Foiles (Pearl River/Pearl River) answered back a minute later to keep Oneonta within two. The Engineers closed out the half with five unanswered goals. Graff and Megan Shay scored four of the five goals and gave Rensselaer an 11-4 halftime lead.
Shay and Rensselaer kept the momentum going in the second half, outscoring Oneonta 10-3. Seven different players scored for the Engineers in the second half, while Shay scored four goals. Morris scored all three goals for the Red Dragons in the second half. Â

Rensselaer had a 41-14 advantage on shots and a 14-9 edge in ground balls. The Engineers were 13-15 on clears while the Red Dragons were 10-17. Â

Oneonta will return to action on Saturday as they travel to face St. Lawrence University at 2 pm.
