Oneonta, NY - A setback for the SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving squad today against their conference foe Cortland.
Freshman
James Llewellyn (Great River/East Islip) turned in the first Oneonta victory on the day when he won in the 100 yard backstroke timing in at 57.14 just under two-seconds ahead of the Cortland second place finisher. Sophomore
Kyle Copper (Canandaigua/Marcus Whitman) recorded a win in the 200 yard butterfly at 1:59.75 more than 12-seconds ahead of the Cortland trailer. Freshman
Mason DeLisio (Kingston/Kingston) then found an Oneonta win as he recorded a time of 23.02 in the 50 yard freestyle more than two-seconds ahead of the runner-up from Cortland. DeLisio than got another win in the 100-yard freestyle touching the wall at 50.79 with teammate and sophomore
Eli Cohen (Schoharie/East Lake (Fla)) finishing just behind him at 52.63.Â
Later on Llewllyn recorded another victory in the 200 yard individual medley recording a time of 2:11.80 less than eight-seconds ahead of the Oneonta runner-up senior
Sean Geddes (Farmingdale/Farmingdale). The final win came for Oneonta in the 200 yard freestyle with sophomore
Ross Caimano (Queensbury/Queensbury), senior
Sean Maurer (Massapequa Park/Massapequa), Cohen and DeLisio earning a time of 1:32.53 less than three-seconds ahead of their teammates as they got the one and two positions. Â
The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons are back in action next week on Saturday, February 5th beginning at 1:00 PM on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
