Brockport, NY - A resounding win for the SUNY Oneonta men's swimming & diving team over conference foe SUNY Brockport to record first conference victory for the season.
The 200 yard medley relay saw freshman James Llewelyn, freshman
Jonathan Stanzione (East Islip/East Islip), sophomore
Kyle Copper (Canandaigua/Marcus Whitman) and freshman Mason Delisio start things off for the guys timing in at 1:41.98 just under seven seconds ahead of the Brockport runner-up. Stanzione took the top honors in the 1000 yard freestyle clocking in at 11:48.47 over eight-seconds ahead of the Eagles second place finisher. Senior Billy Coddington was the winner in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.88 with teammate Delisio just under one-second trailing behind as a runner-up. Copper also recorded a victory in the 200 yard butterfly touching the wall with a time of 2:02.48 a resounding 15+ seconds ahead of the Eagles trailer.
Later Llewelyn took home top finisher in the 100 yard backstroke recording an impressive time of 57:41 with teammate senior
Sean Geddes (Farmingdale/Farmingdale) tallying the runner-up position. The same pair duplicated that result in the 200 yard backstroke with times of 2:10,01 and 2:13.11. Coddington notched a win in 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.62 just under one-second ahead of teammate sophomore
Ross Caimano (Queensbury/Queensbury).
Sophomores
Eli Cohen (Schoharie/East Lake (Fla)) and
Daniel Oh (Huntington/Harborfields) took first and second in the 100 yard freestyle with times of 5.61 and 52.08 respectfully with Coddington making it a clean sweep for top three. Delisio came back late in the meet recording a victory in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.74 over 25 seconds ahead of the Brockport finisher.
Copper and sophomore
Eli Cohen (Schoharie/East Lake (Fla)) went onto take the top positions in the 100 yard butterfly with times of 54.70 and 59.23 respectively. The 200 yard individual medley had three Red Dragons finish win, place and show as Llewelyn, Cohen and Geddes earned an additional 16 points for Oneonta with Llewelyn tallying a time of 2:12.09 with only six seconds separating the trio.
Wrapping up a victorious afternoon for the Red Dragon men swimmers was a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay as Coddington. Sophomore
Ross Caimano (Queensbury/Queensbury), Oh and Delisio touched the walll at 1:30.13 over five-seconds ahead of the Eagles second place team.
The SUNY Oneonta men will try and keep the winning ways coming as the race against St. Rose College on Sunday, November 7th beginning at 1 PM in Albany, NY.
