The SUNY Oneonta women's track & field team began the outdoor portion of its year yesterday at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational, which was a non-scoring meet.

The Inside Story
The Red Dragons did record an individual event victory in the meet, which came from junior
Amanda Iasparo (West Islip/West Islip) who won the 100-meter hurdles. Iasparo won the event with a time of 15.81 seconds after recording the fastest time during preliminaries of 15.07 seconds.

Sophomore
Alexis Ryder (Rotterdam/Schalmont) opened her outdoor season with three personal best performances in the throws. Ryder was fifth in the javelin (28.40 meters), fifth in the hammer throw (42.17 meters) and 14
th in the shot put (10.53 meters).

Senior
Juliana Piemonte (Rome/Rome Free Academy) finished 13
th in both the shot put (10.60 meters) and discus (32.66 meters) recording a personal best mark in the latter.

Claire McMahon (Baldwinsville/CW Baker) led the distance runners with a personal best mark in the 5K crossing the line in 19:12.46.

In the sprints, sophomore
Mya Lipscomb (Peekskill/Walter Panas) picked up where she left off during the indoor season posting a seventh place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.59 seconds) and a 14
th place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.84 seconds).

Freshman
Ivana Lopez (Thiells/North Rockland) was 11
th in the 100 (12.98 seconds) and 16
th in the 200 (27.06 seconds). Senior
Lauren Bower (Westbury/W.T Clarke) finished 15
th in the 200 crossing in 26.99 seconds.

What's Next
The women will compete next weekend at both the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton and the Hamilton College Invitational.
